From luxury hotel rooms to filthy tents in the woods

Reality television features talent of ordinary people, not professionally trained actors. Reality Show producers usually shoot hundreds of hours of footage per episode, and use creative editing to create a thread. Topics of a reality shows may be given some simple directions like offscreen, but the point is to give the performers to act and react as normally as possible.

71 Grader Nord

71 Grader Nord is a very typical Norwegian reality show. Up to 20 participants start in Lindesnes to fight their way up the entire elongated Norway, to reach the premium of nearly 500 000 kroner, located 71 degrees north of Nordkapp. The participants compete against each other, and every week one of the contestants gets voted home by the other participants. And the further north they come, the more they put themselves into pressure and hard work, as both physically and mentally. So in the end, the purpose of this show is to see how much these people can handle, with tons of luggage, walks for days, mile for mile, struggles and climbs to reach the target.  

Paradise Hotel

In the reality show Paradise Hotel a group of young and crazy people choose to stay at the luxury hotel in the beautiful Mexico for a while. Their daily life consists mostly of drinking, partying, sex, sunbathing and talking. The whole part of the game is being liked by the others on the hotel and find someone you can trust, so you can stick with your partner to the end and be able to win the premium of 300 000 kroner. And why do they put a TV-show like this on television? The reason is they will capture the interest of the younger generation, since they mostly are watching TV at these days. And the younger audience interests are what they can look at Paradise Hotel, sex and drinking for example.

Jakten på kjærligheten

In the reality show Jakten på kjærligheten you will find single farmers across Norway trying to find their true love. The farmers get many letters from several suitors and choose the ones he likes best, and they gets the change to come to live on the farme. After the farmers start to get familiar with the suitors, they send the suitors home one by one. And finally they are left with their true love. The purpose of this TV-show is to show that people, no matter what kind of people, it can find true love.

The most similar in these three reality shows is every week someone gets sent back home from the competition. The people that signed up to be a part of the competition and the show do it mostly for the experience. But also wants to win the whole thing. But the TV-shows are still very different from each other. 71 Grader Nord is related for everyone and every generation, you will see Norwegian nature and culture, the participants sleeps in tents, walks, bikes, climbs and rows with a ton of luggage on their backs. And they push themselves on les food. Paradise Hotel is more like a luxury life for the participants, food all the time, drinks all the time and lovely beds. Since the program contains a lot of drinking, sex and partying, the show is tailored to the younger generation. Jakten på kjærligheten is also a program which is related for everyone, this show is more about dating, good food, happiness, romance and relationship.

I like to watch reality shows, maybe I sound stupid but Paradise Hotel has to be my favorite. To be honest I`ve been completely immersed in Paradise Hotel and Big Brother since I saw the first season of those from America. So it must be I`m in the younger generation who likes to watch people make fools of themselves and brings up with all the drama.
